My Toddler Won’t Use Potty – How to change that!
If you are like the millions of Moms saying my toddler won’t use potty you are not alone! I was in the same position and I got through it and now I have a potty trained toddler (eventually). Do not get me wrong it is not easy! In fact it is quite the opposite! I thought I would share my potty training ideas for toddlers to help you to get child pee potty! My 2 year old used to love sitting on the potty for as long as an hour but yet she still managed to not do a pee during this time despite being loaded with orange juice [talk about excellent bladder control 🙂 ]
What To Do If Your Toddler Won’t Potty Train
Firstly it is important to mention that they might not be ready! No point putting a 18 month old onto a potty and expecting miracles. In saying that I feel that you can wait to long as well, and this is the mistake I made with my toddler. When she showed me signs she needed the toilet and was unhappy wearing diapers I ignored them because I thought she was too young at 22 months! I will not make that mistake second time around!
I decided at 30 months it was the perfect time to get child pee potty as the expression goes! Here is my story! My husband and I let our toddler run around with no nappy on for a few hours at a time. We always left the potty in front of the TV and encouraged her to sit on it as much as possible. I asked her every 20 or 30 minutes if she needed to use it and she always told me she did not want too. Of course I had stocked up on potty training reward ideas to use as bribes when she my toddler won’t potty train.
When she started doing the potty dance, my husband lifted her and sat her on the potty and of course she ended up doing a pee! This was the start of her overcoming her fear of using her potty!! Every day we repeated leaving the potty in front of the TV, and encouraging her to use it. I took off her nappies when she was fully clothed too and let her wear her pants. She always wet herself and hated it but this was a major breakthrough because she then realised that she needed to do a pee on her potty or she would be left wet. She especially hated this when she was wearing her favorite My Little Pony pants and made sure she got in time.
