DIY Sand and Water Table Ideas for Sensory Play
If your kids are beach lovers like mine you will love the DIY sand and water table ideas I have gathered for you. These water and sand tables are great outdoor toys for sensory play! I have been browsing Little Tikes versions and the DIY ones are much better for toddlers and pre-schoolers alike, not to mention the fact they are free!
Of course I am going to feature my absolute favorite sand and water table ideas right here in one place! I will add to this list as I find more I like. Who knows I might even attempt to make one of my own very soon.
Bring the Beach to Your Backyard with these Water and Sand Table Ideas
I can guarantee you will have a backyard full of kids if you turn your hand to creating a cool DIY sand and water table like the described below:-
Sarah from Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls created a fabulous water/sand sensory play table for her kids using PVC pipes, funnels, clear tubs and colored water. You can use food dye to color the water whatever color you wish. This is definitely one of my favorite DIY sand and water table ideas! I would probably add a few colourful bath toys to this for added fun. Amelia loves her My Little Pony Squirters and these would be a good addition to this water and sand table. A sand and water table is one of the best backyard water toys in my opinion!
This video gives a good demonstration on the length of PVC tubing required as well as the necessary joints. It shows you step by step how to make your own sand water table.
DIY Sand and Water Table Ideas – Use an old Kitchen Sink
Okay admittedly this is a little harder as you have to source a kitchen sink but keep your eyes peeled for someone who is revamping their kitchen or else look in your local thrift store.
Green Dreams Landscaping did their own DIY sand and water table using a kitchen sink. They had sand in one side and water in the other. They supported the kitchen sink using a wooden frame and had wooden stools on either side for kids to sit while they play. I would probably paint the wood red and blue to make it more pretty and colourful.
My little girl Amelia loves playing with water on a regular basis so we definitely need one of these DIY sand and water tables ASAP. Outside toys for toddler girls will be on my shopping list these next few months as Spring and Summer arrive. I want to make sure Amelia gets as much as outdoor play as possible while the weather is good.
